Hi, I'm Ruth. And I've Seen Every Diet Come—and Go.

After more than 40 years as a Registered Dietitian, I've watched the nutrition world spin through every trend imaginable—low-fat, low-carb, keto, paleo, juice cleanses, intermittent fasting, and everything in between. I've seen patients try them all. And I've watched most of them fail—not because the patients failed, but because those approaches were never designed to last.

That truth became the foundation of everything I do.

I started my career in clinical practice at a time when nutrition science was just beginning to understand the profound connections between what we eat and how we feel. I worked alongside physicians, treated patients with complex chronic conditions, and spent decades studying the emerging research on gut health, metabolic function, and the biology of weight regulation.

What I kept discovering—over and over again—was this:

Your body is not your enemy. It's not broken. It's not working against you. When given the right information and the right nourishment, the human body is remarkably capable of healing, balancing, and thriving.

The problem is that most diets treat your body like a math problem. Eat less. Move more. Burn more than you consume. But if that formula worked, you wouldn't be here looking for something different.

Real, lasting health isn't a formula. It's a relationship—with your body, your food, and your unique biology.

That's the approach I bring to every client I work with, and it's the approach behind every course, meal plan, and consultation I offer through Nutrition by Ruth.

"Real, lasting health isn't a formula. It's a relationship—with your body, your food, and your unique biology."

My Philosophy

Why My Approach Actually Works (When Everything Else Hasn't)

There's no shortage of nutrition advice out there. What's rare is guidance that's truly individualized, grounded in decades of real clinical experience, and designed to work with your body—not against it.

Here's what sets my approach apart:

Evidence-Based, Never Fad-Driven

Every recommendation I make is rooted in peer-reviewed science and refined through 40+ years of clinical practice. I don't follow nutrition trends—I follow the research. When the science evolves, so do I. You'll never find me chasing the latest viral diet or supplement with me.

Root Cause Thinking, Not Symptom Chasing

Bloating, fatigue, weight gain, blood sugar swings, brain fog—these are symptoms, not root causes. I'm trained to look deeper: at your gut microbiome, your metabolic function, your inflammation levels, your hormonal patterns. When we address the root causes, the symptoms resolve naturally and durably.

I've Lived What I Teach

At 70, I'm not just handing you a protocol I learned in a textbook. I understand what it's like to navigate health through every life stage—including menopause, metabolic shifts, and the very real challenges of aging well. My personal experience makes me a better clinician, a better listener, and a better guide.
